Get lost in the Corn!

Where to go?

2009 Maze design will be biggest ever!!! 1.5 more acres of corny excitement!!!

For the 2009 season, in honor of the aniversary of his 200th birthday, Layman Family Farms will be celebrating our 16th, and arguably our greatest, president. This year's maze design will feature a likeness of Abraham Lincoln as seen on the U.S. Penny. Additionally, this year's design is bigger than ever with over 1.5 extra acres of confusing enjoyment.

"We wanted to show our patriotism this year, and honoring this great president's 200th birthday was our favorite idea," says Eric Layman, owner of Layman Family Farms. "We believe in what he stood for: equality and holding the country together. We are honored to feature Abe in our maze this year, and we hope he will be a big hit with the community."

The 2009 Maze Design

The 2009 Maze Design

The Maze is divided into 2 sections: phase 1 and phase 2. Everyone starts in phase 1, which comprises about 1/2 of the entire Maze. Once through phase 1, you have a choice. The more adventurous will opt to continue on into the very difficult phase 2 while the faint of heart (and those with small children) will likely call it a day.

In the Maze, you are guided by a series of 10 numbered scarecrows placed in order along the correct path out of the maze. If you desire a little extra help, "passports" are available with questions that must be answered at each scarecrow to receive a hint as to which way to turn. The Maze is constantly patrolled by our highly trained staff of "Corn Cops" who do their best to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time in the Maze. If they catch you breaking the rules, they will escort you from the Maze for your safety and the safety of those around you.

New last year was our Mini Maze sponsored by Pump It Up of Roanoke. We will continue this tradition, allowing kids to once again get lost in their favorite inflatable charachter, Pumpy!

Hours of Operation

MAiZE Policies

We require that anyone entering the Maze be properly attired with pants/shorts, a shirt, and shoes. While we recommend sturdy shoes be worn as the paths are at times uneven, anything is acceptable. The temperature inside the Maze is usually 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the temperatue outside, so we advise that you purchase water at the concession to take with you as there is no "escape route" until you find a Corn Cop.
